Nasarawa bizmen ask FG to revive marketing board

Businessmen and women in Nasarawa State have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to as matter of urgency revive the marketing board so that it will regulate the prices of food items.

The businessmen and women who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday were reacting to the president’s Independence Day broadcast.

A businesswoman, Hajiya Rabi Usman, said the board would control the rising prices of food and other items.

A businessman, Alhaji Rafi Gada, recalled that when the marketing board was active, food prices were controlled, but regretted that middlemen now fixed prices of goods at will.

Mr Malle Moses, a businessman in Keffi, said, “I am confident that Mr President has the political will to take this country to greater heights based on the achievements so far.

“I want to appeal to Mr President not to relent in taking new measures towards addressing the rising cost of food items by reviving the marketing board.”

Mr Benjamin Ango, a lecturer at the Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia, urged the government to do more in addressing insecurity in order to avert food shortage in the country.
