A former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his quick intervention in the deployment of troops to tackle the incessant killings by gunmen in Katakpa, Shegye and other villages in Toto LGA.
Abdullahi made the commendation while speaking with newsmen shortly after he attended the two Raka’at prayers to mark the Eid -el-Fitr in his Umaisha hometown on Wednesday.
He said the state government’s efforts in deploying troops to the troubled communities had curbed the killings.
He also lauded vigilantes for synergising with the military and other security personnel to tame other forms of criminality across the local government, noting that the recent attack by gunmen on some of the communities led to loss of several lives and property.
Also speaking, the Ohimegye of Opanda-Umaisha Kingdom, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, appreciated the state government and the army for restoring peace to the area.
He, therefore, called on his subjects to live in peace with each other, which he noted had a great impact on society, even as he urged them to be security conscious and report any suspicious persons to security agents.
The monarch also urged his subjects to engage in farming in order to address the food insecurity in the country.
On his part, the Chief Imam of Umaisha, Mohammed Yahaya Usman, who led the prayers, sued for peace, unity and progress of the country
