Nasarawa crisis: Displaced persons get relief materials

No fewer than 12 settlements were attacked and property worth millions of naira razed. Several people were also killed in three local government areas, cutting across two zones of the state when violence spread earlier in the month. Calm has returned to the state and some displaced persons have started returning to their villages.
Presenting the items through his political associate, Nawani Aboki, Senator Suleiman Asonya Adokwe, who represents Nasarawa-South, said he was touched by the plight of the displaced persons to initiate the gesture. He said the gesture was aimed at reducing the harsh impact of the crisis on the displaced persons, as well as help them return to their homes without much hardship.
The donation was received on behalf of the affected settlements by a former commissioner in the state, Alhaji Yakubu Garba Magazi, who thanked the senator and promised to ensure equitable distribution to all the ethnic groups affected in the crisis.
The items donated included 90 bags of rice, 70 bags of maize and 35 gallons of oil.
