The Nasarawa State Government has earmarked N25 billion for the construction of two flyovers along the Abuja-Mararaba market in Karu Local Government Area to tackle traffic congestion.
Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Planning, Munira Abdullahi, disclosed this in Lafia during budget breakdown, highlighting major capital projects for 2026.
Other projects include N3 billion for a Keffi LGA flyover and N2bn for an Akwanga LGA underpass road.
The state government also planned to construct the National Institute of Public Relations University, Gudi, for N3bn, and storm water channels in eroded areas for N2bn.
Additionally, N2bn has been allocated for drilling boreholes in boarding schools across the state’s three senatorial districts.
Abdullahi said the administration prioritizes completing ongoing projects, improving education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
According to her, the state planned to renovate educational institutions, invest in teacher training, and strengthen scholarship programs, supported by the Nasarawa State Education Trust Fund.
The government will also recruit qualified health personnel and expand health insurance coverage for vulnerable citizens.
The administration emphasized job creation, particularly for women and youths, through empowerment programs and support for MSMEs.
Abdullahi called on Accounting Officers to follow the Appropriation Law, ensuring efficient revenue collection and transparency.
The 2026 Budget, tagged “Budget of Strategic Consolidation”, was signed into law by Governor Abdullahi Sule on Monday, with a total allocation of N545.2bn.
