The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nasarawa State, Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa has stated that the era of Government laying priority on one sport in the State has gone.
Amb. Lucky who defied the festive break disclosed this over the weekend during the commissioning ceremony of the maiden Sarkin Daji Basketball Court in Doma Council Area of the State amidst large dignitaries and sports enthusiasts.
Speaking to the press shortly after the event, the Commissioner thanked the proponent of the project, Mohammed Sarkin Daji, Founder of the Sarkin Daji Charity Foundation, describing it as laudable and worth emulating.
“This, indeed, is a noble initiative courtesy of a young philanthropist who has not stopped breaking stereotypes to create an egalitarian and enabling society for all, especially for the youth of our dear State.
“No doubts, we have abundance of talented youth in the State, but Government alone cannot meet their needs, hence the need to seek the assistance of well-to-do individuals in the society to support the vision and mission of this Government to make the dreams of these future leaders materialize.”
Amb. Lucky emphasized that Governor Abdullahi Sule-Administration is placing premium on general sports development rather than focusing on certain sports, with the aim of meeting the growing needs of sports talents littered across the State.
