Nasarawa United stormed back to the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table with a stunning 3-0 home victory over El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri in the Week 14 fixture played on Sunday at the Lafia City Stadium.

Last season’s Highest Goalscorer, Anas Yusuf, opened the scoring from the spot in the 38th minute as the hosts took the slim advantage into the break.

A minute after resumption, Yusuf grabbed his brace when he capitalized on a defensive blunder to double Nasarawa United’s lead.

Teenage sensation, Garba Mohammed, sealed the “solid miners” emphatic win with the third, marking his third goal of the season.

With the massive win, Nasarawa United have moved back to the summit with 27 points, three points more than Ikorodu United who have a game in hand.

Elsewhere, Enugu Rangers left it late to beat Niger Tornadoes 1-0 courtesy of Ikechukwu Agu’s strike in the 80th minute of the match played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

Reigning champions Remo Stars scored two first half goals to edge newcomers Barau FC 2-0. Ahmed Akinyele scored the opener in the 15th minute while experienced campaigner Victor Mbaoma doubled the lead in the 32nd minute.

Newly promoted Kun Khalifat earned a crucial point on the road after forcing Warri Wolves to a 1-1 draw.

At the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Wikki Tourists fought back to draw 1-1 with Bayelsa United. Former Akwa United, Lobi Stars and Enugu Rangers striker, Ifeanyi Ogba, put the visitors ahead in the 7th minute but Wikki Tourists drew level three minutes from regulation time.

Bendel Insurance and 3SC of Ibadan also picked points on the road after they forced Abia Warriors and Kwara United to goalless draws in Umuahia and Ilorin respectively.

The fixture between Plateau United and Rivers United was postponed due to the latter’s continental engagement.

Meanwhile, Matchday 14 fixtures will continue today with mouth-watering clashes as embattled Kano Pillars host Ikorodu City at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium while Katsina United battle Enyimba behind closed doors in Ilorin.
