The Nasarawa State government has affirmed its readiness to partner with Cuba in the areas of ranching, animal husbandry and livestock production among others.

Governor Umaru Al-Makura disclosed this when he welcomed the representatives of Cuban companies in Nigeria as a follow up to his earlier visit to Cuba a few months ago.

“We went to Cuba with the proposed plan to have a ranch in support to the Federal Government to reduce the farmers/herders problems by having dedicated ranches where livestock would be fattened to increase production of milk, beef and cheese, while being fed with feeds grown in the vicinity of the ranch.

“This is with the hope of domesticating a Cuban model with a high degree of sophistication as we saw farms that bred animals that were being inseminated to produce high breed livestock,” he stated.

Speaking earlier, some members of the Cuban delegation stated their willingness to the agreement reached when the governor was in their country.
