A specialist hospital in Nasarawa State has evolved a drug revolving scheme towards reducing child mortality and improving the health of the public.

Child mortality has been an overwhelming issue in the health sector for many years and is now being addressed with the input of government at all levels, donor agencies, community leaders among others.

Dr Tomen Ezekiel Agu, a consultant family physician and director of training in the Family Medicine Department of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH), Lafia who has been in practice for over 15 years, said there are medicines for malaria, pneumonia and diarrhoea among many others in the hospital and from different pharmaceutical companies.

“The management has made sure that all essential drugs are available in all the clinical departments with doctors and inputs.

“The idea is that the management doesn’t want any patient to go out looking for any medicine. All the drugs are available here,” he said, adding that in DASH, the quality of drugs is high.,”

“The management is improving in the delivery of service to the people,” he said.
