Nasarawa United unveiled 17 newly signed players on Thursday, less than 24 hours to the kickoff of the 2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The “Solid Miners” battled against relegation in the 2024/2025 season till the final day.
Therefore, the decision to add more quality players to the squad is to fortify the team in key areas to avoid a repeat of what happened last season.
The unveiled players include left back Ikemdinachi Imo Prince (Enyimba), attacking winger Lawal Akanni (Kwara United), defensive midfielder Gozie Umeh (Enyimba), goalkeeper Olughu Onu Chinemerem (Ikorodu City), and central defender Moses Botia Tsehuan (Lobi Stars).
Others are goalkeeper Ovunda Darlington (Akwa United), central midfielder Olawale Olajide (Dragons of Benin Republic), attacking midfielder Vincent Akpikpi (Bendel Insurance), centre back Victor Ekioke, and centre forward, Paul Itim (Lobi Stars).
Winger Jofrank Instifanus (Camp Pro FC), Oladeji Joshua (Crown FC), centre forward, Sunusi Alhaji Audu (Mighty Jets), centre back Ojo Johnson (City FC), winger Eshimutu Gomina (Kano Pillars), centre back Nnoli Samuel (Global Peace Academy), and winger Ogodo Samuel (Adamawa United) were among the players unveiled.
The 2025/26 NPFL season kick-starts on Friday, August 22, but Nasarawa United will play their opening match of the campaign against regional rivals Niger Tornadoes on Sunday at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna.
Last season, Nasarawa United finished 12th on the table with 52 points, one point ahead of Niger Tornadoes who finished in 13th position.
