Speaking to Feverpitch yesterday, the former Falcons assistant coach said having qualified for the round of 16, those who doubted the ability of Nasarawa United must have a re-think.

The former FC Abuja coach said Nasarawa United worked hard to gain promotion to the Nigeria Premier League and the Federation Cup is a golden opportunity to justify its promotion to the NPL.

He said so far his club has won two matches in the Federation Cup and the confidence in the team is getting stronger and so when the round of 16 commences, Nasarawa United would ride high.

The coach said Nasarawa United FC will not give too much respect to any opponent adding that he would be happy to lead his team to announce its return to the top flight with a bang.

Nyiku said the Federation Cup is also an opportunity for Nasarawa United to size up some of the NPL clubs ahead of the 2012/2013 football season.

“The competition is on and so far we have won two matches convincingly. This is to say we have something to offer. We shall continue to do our best knowing full well that it is only victories that will keep us in the competition.

“So far, so good. We hope to keep winning. By our performance, those who are in doubt about the ability of Nasarawa United would have a second thought.

“We are not new to premier league football but we are going to use the federation Cup to have a feel of what the NPL clubs have to offer. We would also use this competition to start preparations for the coming season.

Coach Bala said any club that underrates Nasarawa United would be doing so at its own peril.
