It featured speeches, drama presentations, traditional dances, mock news presentation (Standard English), mock news presentation (Pidgin English), paper presentations, beauty contest and presentation of awards.
The event took place at the 500-seat Theatre and Cultural Studies Auditorium.
Mr. Obadiah Kyune, the MACOSA President, in his address explained why MACOSA Day was organised.
He said the event was aimed at creating a platform for social interaction among students, on the one hand, and between students and lecturers, on the other.
He added that it is part of the responsibilities of the MACOSA executive council to organise social events to enhance relationships in the Mass Communication family.
Mr. Kyune assured that his executive council will collaborate with the university management to create a conducive atmosphere for learning.
The MACOSA president urged the members to attend lectures regularly, dress decently, shun examination malpractice and always channel their complaints to the appropriate authorities.
The acting head of Department, Malam Muhammad S. Rabiu, commended the current leaders of the union for their resourcefulness and determination to hold the MACOSA Day this year.
“Together, we shall carry Mass Communication to greater heights; Mass Communication must blossom and flourish,” he said.
A representative of the acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, said Mass Communication Department is dear to him as it was established when he was the Dean of the Faculty of Arts in 2005.
A drama themed “Implications of sex outside marriage” was staged by students from the English Department.
