Mainoma gave the commendation while receiving the executive of the National Union of Benue State Students (NUBESS), NSUK chapter.
The vice chancellor, who was represented by his special assistant, Yahaya Sabo, said he held Benue students in high esteem, and promised to continue to be a father to them.
 Prof Mainoma was also presented the award of “Students’ Most Friendly Vice Chancellor of the Year” by the NUBESS for his fatherly and friendly disposition toward students.
Earlier, the outgoing president of the union, Comrade Inalegwu Itodo, told the vice chancellor that the students were committed to ensuring that social vices are eradicated in the school.
Also speaking, the newly elected president of NUBESS, Comrade Daniel Okwa, commended the vice chancellor’s transformational leadership style and promised that they would continue to shun any act capable of causing trouble on campus.
