The Nasrul-lahi-li Fathi (NASFAT) Society of Nigeria has appealed to politicians and other Nigerians to allow a violence-free general election even as it preaches against voter apathy.

At a National prayer organized by the Islamic organization, the NASFAT President, Engr. Yomi Bolarinwa, said the programme has become expedient because Nigerian voters deserve peaceful atmosphere to choose their leaders.

According to Bolarinwa, politicians must appreciate the fact that it is only Allah that allows whomever He wishes into positions of power, hence the need for candidates of various political parties to accept outcomes as the will of Allah and the wishes of the people.  The NASFAT President also preached against voters’ apathy. He said those who choose not to vote should not complain when those who will misuse the power are eventually elected.

A lecturer at the event, Dr Nosiru Onibon who is also the Acting Provost, Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCPED), Epe said it is important for citizens to exercise their franchise but such must be carried out in a peaceful atmosphere and orderly manner.
