The Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatihi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) has called on Nigerians to support efforts of the Federal Government in combating terrorism and corruption in the country.
NASFAT President, Engr. Kamil Bolarinwa, made the call at the weekend during a press conference to announce the activities lined up to mark the society’s 21st anniversary.
He said: “As an Islamic society in Nigeria, we are committed to the growth and progress of this nation, and recognise its huge potential to assume the unassailable leadership of Africa. It is our view that well-meaning Nigerians should support the efforts and programmes of the government which are intended to restore dignity to our compatriots at home and abroad, and improve the welfare of our people.”
Bolarinwa stressed the need for Muslims to always seek legal redress on any matter of their concerns to avoid running foul of laws of the land, adding that individuals can only fight for themselves but not for Allah.
He said that NASFAT at 21, rather than being in celebration mood, was reflecting on the global socio-economic status of which Nigeria was not left out, adding that the world was indeed at war, with insecurity, corruption, poverty, disease and erosion of core societal values pervading the globe.
Chairman of NASFAT 21st Anniversary Committee, Alhaji Ismaila Aderemi-Bello said the anniversary activities would include a photo show at several locations between March 20 and April 3 to display the evolution of the group, adding that the closing ceremony would be on Sunday, April 3 at the NASFAT Islamic Centre, Assese, Ogun State with special prayer session (Assalatu), launch of new prayer books for the youth and children as well as the unveiling of the group’s online application, NASFATAPPS.
