The National assembly on Tuesday was under siege by the operatives of the States Security Service on Tuesday, preventing lawmakers, journalist and staff from entering the National Assembly.

Scores of events unfolded from the siege and here is what we know so far.

. Lawmakers, journalist and staff were on Tuesday morning blocked from accessing the national assembly complex by the States Security Service

.  After hours of waiting, Boma Goodhead, a PDP House of Representatives member from Rivers State dramatically forced her way into the National Assembly complex leading others as well.

.  Lawmakers while entering into the National Assembly complex were forced to go through thorough security screening by masked, stern looking DSS operatives. They had to clip their Identification Cards (IDs) on their chests, bring out their phones and other personal effects as condition for gaining entry into the complex.

. In a statement, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) distanced itself from the alleged blockage of National Assembly by the personnel of the Directorate of State Service (DSS) and the purported plot to remove Senate President Bukola Saraki.

. The siege which made headlines got shocking responses from the Presidency and Nigerians reacted with mixed views on social media.

 

. The international scene reacted too, as United Kingdom disclosed they are monitoring the development of the National Assembly siege and noted they would only accept a democratic process that recognises the rights of Nigerians to participate in election process

. Acting president, Pro Yemi Osinbajo later directed the termination of the appointment of the Director General, State Security Service, Lawal Musa Daura with immediate effect,  directing him to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice.

. The Department of State Security boss, Lawal Daura, was arrested and detained, minutes after the Vice President announced his sack.
