Briefing newsmen at the National Assembly complex yesterday, Bawa and Osagie said the leadership has recalled all members from where ever they may be across the world to attend the emergency plenary session in order to address the volatile situation in the country following the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) by the Federal government on 1st January 2012.

“ We are aware of the situation in the country and as a parliament and representatives of the Nigerian people and a chamber that is representing over 150 million Nigerians, we feel that even though we are on recess we feel obliged and directed by the Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal based on request by the leaders of the political parties in the House, to reconvene on Sunday 8th January 2012 at 3pm to discuss issues of emergency affecting the country at large and we come under the position of Order (18) rule 2 of the House standing rules,” the lawmakers said.

Osagie revealed that the House will also take a look at the issue of the declaration of state of emergency in some parts of the country especially having regards to sections 305 and 5b of the 1999 constitution as amended.
