Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo on Friday summoned the Inspector-General of Police, Sulaiman Abba to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja over Thursday invasion of the National Assembly Complex by policemen.

Sambo engaged the police boss in a one-hour closed door session while President Goodluck Jonathan was away in London for a meeting of the Nigeria’s Honorary International Investment Council (HIIC).

Commotion had ensued at the National Assembly as policemen prevented Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, from entering the premises.

Rising from the meeting with the vice president, the IG, who was accompanied by some of his subordinates, told State House journalists that the Force was investigating the matter.

Asked if he authorized the invasion of the parliament by his men, the police boss said: “Who did what and who didn’t do what will be disclosed to you later. You know we work with investigations. Investigations are going on and the press officer will address you. I still repeat, who did what, who didn’t do what, you will hear later. It is subject to investigations. We just don’t talk anyhow.”

On his next line of action, the IG asked the journalists to wait for the outcome of the investigations, saying findings would reveal everything.

“Just wait. Our findings will reveal”, the police chief said.

While entering his vehicle, Abba granted another round of interview in Hausa, proclaiming that he had never seen the kind of actions exhibited on Thursday by the legislators anywhere in the world.

On whether his officers were injured during the fracas as claimed, Abba said: “everybody has seen that somebody was even beating somebody, somebody was pushing a policeman from the car, and somebody was removing the roadblocks mounted by the police. We have never seen this kind of thing in the whole world. So, we will talk to you later”.
