National Assembly in plenary to defy worker strike

Nigeria’s National Assembly.

The Senate began its plenary today, defying security operatives and members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria on strike.

The plenary on Tuesday started two hours later, with less than 20 senators.

Similarly the House of Representatives went ahead with its own sitting, with only around 25 lawmakers.
The presidency has insisted in “peaceful resolution” to the strike, which workers called over their welfare.
The strike comes as President  Muhammmadu Buhari is expected to present next year’s budget on Wednesday.
