Nigeria is a nation within which abound many nations. The many contradictions inherent in nations like Nigeria led to a civil war within 6 years of independence, and have to date sustained ethno-religious strife, and unprecedented inter-ethnic hatred. The multiplier effect of such, hatred, distrust, and suspicion among the different ethnic nations has led to each group seeking to dominate the other and all forms of marginalisation both in strategic federal appointments, citing of federal infrastructure, and resource distribution.
There is ample evidence to show that the seed producing violence in Nigeria is rooted in abuse of rights, unequal access to opportunities, pervasive and primordial corruption, hostile and polluted environment, defiled and denigrated citizenship, fratricidal ethnicity and religiosity among others. These are the sound of the stale music that defines the dancing steps that set in motion the turbine of intolerance and violence that has become the nation’s propeller of conflict and crises. Pains, tears and death of hapless citizens are common traits of dastardly evil and fatal greed ascribable to our vicious rulers’ bad – governance. A Conference that is not sovereign enough to frontally address these will get us nowhere.
One issue that will be tabled before the National Dialogue is the marginalization of Chibok people in Bornu state .Chibok local government area is Bornu South senatorial zone. Other local governments, namely Dayabio and Gwaoza, have benefitted from government patronage and virtually all political appointments and representations are all coming from both area. But Chibok has been marginalized, underdeveloped and not given equal opportunity for political representation.
