A 50-year-old native doctor, Kehinde Obayeru, was on Wednesday docked in an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for allegedly assaulting and threatening to kill a couple, Doluyemi and Oyinbo Omoge.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is charged with assault and threat to life.
The prosecutor, ASP Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on November 17, 2025, around 4pm. at Yewa Street.
Omoyeigha alleged that the defendant beat up Doluyemi and tore his wife’s clothing, valued at N35,000.
He stated that the offences contravene the provisions of Sections 249(d) and 86 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mr. Mayowa Olanipekun, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum. Olanipekun ordered that the surety must present evidence of two years’ tax clearance paid to the state government.
The case was adjourned until April 9, for hearing. (NAN)
