Naval operatives attached to the Nigeria. navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft, at the weekend dislodged suspected pipeline vandals along the creeks of Badagry.
During the exercise which lasted for hours, three large wooden boats, 649 drums, nine outboard engine, several length of plastic hoses were recovered from the hoodlums.
On sighting the naval operatives, the vandals, about 10 of them escaped in three speed boats with varying degree of injuries.
The Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship(NNS) BEECROFT, Commordore Abraham Adaji made the disclosure while speaking with journalists at Apapa in Lagos.
According to him, the operation and the seizure which was made on the night of May 11 was led by Sub.-lt. Godwin Enefu.
Enefu, who led the patrol said that the vandals, numbering about 10, on sighting the naval team fled into the bush to evade arrest.
‘‘While on our routine patrol, on getting to Badagry area to make arrest from the information that we recieved, the suspected vandals began to run away.Unfortunately for them, we intercepted these two wooden boats from them.
‘‘When they saw us coming, they fled away and abandoned these two wooden boats alongside their equipment,’’ he said.
