Suspected smugglers paraded at the weekend by the navy in Akwa-Ibom
The Nigerian Navy, Forward Operating Base, Ibaka, Mbo Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, has arrested 16 suspected smugglers and seized 753 bags of rice.
Other seized items include six outboard Yamaha engine boats, four wooden boats, two pumping machines and 10 cartons of Savon Cameroonian soap.
The Commanding Officer, FOB, Captain Yusuf Idris, yesterday said in Ibaka that the seized rice was more than one trailer load.
Receiving the items and suspects, the Deputy Superintendent of Customs and Unit Commander of Custom Strike Force in Uyo, Mr Goni Babagana, said no stone would be left unturned in ensuring that the suspects are duly prosecuted if found guilty.
