The Nigerian Navy has arrested eight suspected cultists in Ogbaru local government area of Anambra state.

The Commanding Officer of the Naval Outpost Onitsha, Capt Yakubu Dahiru, said the present  security architecture of Anambra State would not tolerate increase in criminal activities, as joint patrols are being conducted regularly with the aim of preventing attempted influx of criminals in  the state.

Dahiru, who spoke through his Information Officer, Sub Lieutenant  Sulaiman Bala, warned those engaged in the act and other criminal activities to desist or stay away from the state particularly his host Community, Ogbaru council area.

According to the Commanding Officer, all the suspects and exhibits have since been handed over to the Nigerian Police Force and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further Investigation and possible prosecution.

He called on the people of the state to always provide useful information that would assist in apprehending criminals.

Some of the items recovered from the suspects included two motorcycles, substances suspected to be cannabis, machetes, charms and mobile phones.
