Navy intercepts N29bn worth of cannabis in Lagos creeks

The Nigerian Navy, on Tuesday said its officers attached to NNS BEECROFT intercepted N29 billion worth of weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa along the creeks at Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos.

It said its officers were able to track the movement of the illicit items with the aid of Falcon Eye, a state-of-the-art maritime awareness domain facility technology.

Addressing newsmen yesterday in Lagos, Commodore Kolawale Oguntuga, the commander of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT, said the illicit drugs were intercepted in the early hours of July 3 near Ibeju Lekki.

The commander, however, warned the perpetrators to desist or face the wrath of the law.
