The House of Assembly recently passed a resolution calling on Governor Theodore Orji to remove the Chief Judge for refusal to appear before it to answer allegations of misconduct.
In a statement, President of NBA, OkeyWali (SAN), urged the governor to avoid being drawn into the attempt to politicise the judiciary, especially “soon after the return of normalcy in the Abia State Judiciary.”
While maintaining that the judiciary should be accorded due respect as an independent arm of government, he described as “misleading” news reports that the chief judge has actually been removed
“It is in the interest of all that we have an independent, virile and fearless judiciary at all levels,” he said.
