The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the Chartered Institute of Forensic and Certified Fraud Investigators of Nigeria (CIFCFIN) have pledged to collaborate in combating forgery and other forms of fraud that continue to cause national embarrassment.

Both bodies advocated for the integration of forensics into Nigeria’s 2027 general elections to eliminate forgery and fraud by strengthening institutional frameworks.

NBA President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, expressed these views while receiving the President of CIFCFIN and other council members at his office in Abuja.

He questioned why electronic verification is seamless for JAMB records yet remains cumbersome for academic credentials or judicial records, noting that judgments from foreign jurisdictions are often more accessible than local ones.

Osigwe emphasized that forensic science can strengthen the judicial system, enhance institutional credibility, and safeguard democracy as the nation prepares for the 2027 elections.

Earlier, CIFCFIN Founder and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Iliyasu Gashinbaki, noted that since receiving its charter, the institute has trained over 6,000 members, including legal practitioners, within the last three years.
