NBA inaugurates justice reform c’ttee

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Abubakar Mahmoud (SAN) has appointed leading lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Arthur Obi-Okafor, SAN as the Chairman of the NBA Criminal Justice and Law Reform Committee. 

Also appointed to the crucial committee is the outgoing NBA Lagos Branch Publicity Secretary, Mr. Emeka Nwadioke. The committee has since been inaugurated by Mahmoud.

Others who made the list include former NBA Third Vice President, Mr. Reuben James who will act as Alternate Chairman; NBA National Treasurer Aisha Mohammed, and senior lawyer, Mr. John Duru. Also appointed members of the committee are Alfred Akinjo Esq., Yakubu Orlando Esq, Geraldine Wey Esq, Tope Ogunride Esq, Joy Gbanigo Esq, Foluke Abaniwonda Esq, Gerty Nkechi Iloegbunam Esq, Damien Nosike Esq, E D Ukoh Esq, Oge Eyindah Esq, Nkoyo Amah Esq, George Fortune Esq, Anthonia Eke Esq, Philomena Omorodion Esq and Samuel Etuk Esq.

“The committee is mandated to ensure that law enforcement policies and practices employed to investigate, charge and prosecute individuals are appropriate and accurate; to organize conferences, colloquium, workshops and roundtable that will ensure an effective system by making policy makers evaluate and propose recommendations for a better criminal justice system in Nigeria,” he said.
