He made the promise, Friday in Abuja at the ground-breaking ceremony for the new NBA national secretariat.
He mentioned that the NBA House project would be completed within the life span of his administration. He therefore called for sacrifice and commitment, saying “nobody builds in comfort.”
The NBA President commended the NBA Property Development Building Committee chairman and members for their hard work and commitment in the project.
He also thanked the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, who is the chairman of the NBA House fund raising committee and his members for their commitment to the project and for the funds they have raised so far.
Meanwhile, the NBA president has threatened to sack chairman of any committee of the association who abused his office for political reasons.
Wali, while speaking at 7th Annual Business Law Conference of the Section on Business Law (SBL) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), said this is necessary so as to promote discipline at the bar.
He said the increased politicization of some committee activities by the chairmen is worrying and capable of disrupting the focus of his administration.
According to him, the NBA has called for dissolution of the Nigeria Governors Forum, supported Chairman of Independent Electoral Commission, Prof Attahiru Jega’s threat to disqualify politicians engaged in campaign before the time allowed by law.
He said:’’ You are overheating the system with negative effect on the programmes of this administration, this will no longer be tolerated. There shall be no more electioneering, until campaigns are officially allowed next year. Defaulters will be disqualified from participating in the 2014 election.’’
He expressed satisfaction of the NBA with the Section on Business Law with the management of its affairs and the organization of the conference.
The theme of the conference which is, ‘The Legal Profession in an Emerging Market’, he said, reflects the changing pattern of legal practice in Nigeria and other emerging economies.
