The Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Professor Idris Muhammad Bugaje, has commended the Federation’s Head of Service, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, for her role in integrating the Nigerian Skills Qualification (NSQ) levels 1 to 5 into the National Scheme of Service as a qualification for employment and promotion.
According to a statement issued by the Board Head of Media, Hajiya Fatima Abubakar, Professor Bugaje praised the efforts of the Head of Service and the National Council on Establishment at their recent meeting in Bauchi to incorporate the NSQ into the National Scheme of Service.
“She deserves our abounding appreciation. Sincerely, she and everyone that contributed to this success, deserve to be commended. Getting to the highest ladder of the National Council on Establishment is not an easy task.
“This singular move will encourage Nigerian youths to get up-skilled as opportunities abound in not only the private sector but also the public sector.
“Today global economies are driven by skills and many opportunities abound for certified skilled youths in Nigeria and the diaspora,’’ the statement added.
The Nigerian Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), is a system for the development, classification, and recognition of skills, knowledge, and competencies acquired by individuals, irrespective of where and how the training or skill was acquired. The system gives a clear statement of what the learner must know or be able to do whether the learning took place in a classroom, on-the-job, or less formally. The framework is the structure within which the National Skills Qualifications (NSQs) operate.
