The lecture, initiated in 2008 by NCAC, is the 10th in its series, also featured awards presentations to Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in the development of Nigerian Arts and Culture within their chosen areas of endeavour.
Speaking during the ceremony held in Abuja, NCAC Executive Director Mr. M.M Maidugu said the lecture is to celebrate Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in contributing to the development of Nigerian Arts and Culture within their chosen areas of endeavour.
“This 10th edition has three eminent Nigerians, including the lecturer and institution that were carefully selected as recipients of the 2013 Honours Awards.
Also, tied to this programme, is the NCAC staff excellence and productivity award. This is aimed at encouraging and rewarding hardworking staff of the Council that have distinguished themselves in their respective assignments over the year.
In his address, Chairman Senate Committee on Tourism, Culture and National Orientation  Senator Ahmed Hassan Barata said the awards will spur the awardees to do more and also encouraged laggards to put in more efforts to be so rewarded in due time.
“I urge the NCAC to continue its good work of reaching out and providing leadership to the various categories of practitioners and other stakeholders and repositioning the sector for delivering benefits to both the nation and the individual stakeholders. For us in the National Assembly, we will work relentlessly towards ensuring that we support the NCAC in particular, and the sector in general, to take their rightful places in the nation`s pursuit of development and harmony.”
Among those honoured were popular Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor for promoting womanhood through Nollywood and Frank Osodi for promoting visual art in the area of fashion design.
