NCC arrests four over illegal registration of SIM cards

The suspects were arrested during an exercise on illegal SIM card registration in Kano metropolis on Thursday.
The compliance officer of the commission in Kano, Alhaji Salisu Abdul said the suspects would be prosecuted accordingly.
“We need to do carry our enforcement in order to secure data of subscribers as well as for security. With illegal SIM registration criminals can commit atrocities without detection,” he said.
Speaking with journalists, one of the suspects said that he had authorisation from a network provider to do the registration.
“I’m not doing it illegally, I was given the right to register SIM cards by a telecoms operator but one of their engineers hacked my system and gave to someone else,” he said.
