NCC’s Director of Public Affairs Tony Ojobo said in a statement that the enlightenment became imperative following the recent auction of 2.3GHz spectrum.
He said the commission had been moving around the country to tell Nigerians about the importance of broadband and how it will affect their lives positively.
But he said the commission was also educating phone users on network problems as it recognises the fact that telecom service in Nigeria is still some distance from ideal.
He said NCC is telling them that continued and consistent efforts have been made in ensuring that service providers are awake to their responsibilities.
“Despite the difficulties encountered in ensuring a hitch-free telecoms service delivery, the importance of the telecoms industry in modem day live and living is buttressed by an ever increasing number of subscribers.  NCC is continually seeking ways of reducing the strain on the consumer. One of such instruments is encouraging the  broadening of telecom services with the broadband telecoms facility which ensures very high speed internet assessments. On Thursday the 27th of March 2014, at the Assembly Hall of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, by 1.00 pm prompt, the Consumer Affairs Bureau of the NCC will x-ray the benefits of broadband telecoms facilities to consumers”, he said.
