The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has warned against illegal operation of automated vehicular tracking (AVT).

Emilia Nwokoro, the Enugu zonal controller at the NCC, said that it is illegal for people to operate vehicular tracking services without registering with the commission, and that registration would help regulate their services.

She said the NCC’s enforcement procedures empower it to seal off AVT services operating without licence, and that D-Tech Multi Services had been sealed off on 31 October 2017 following the refusal of its managers to regularise their operations with the commission.

She said that the aim of registering operators was to enhance security of services and ensure that vehicle owners deal with genuine auto-trackers in the state.

She called on members of the public to furnish her office with information concerning illegal operators there.
