‘NCCE not witch-hunting NTI’

The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), Professor Bappah-Aliyu Muhammadu said the commission’s quality assurance activities are not meant to witch-hunt the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI).
Speaking in Kaduna at the flag off of the monitoring and evaluation of academic standards in NTI study centres in the North-West zone, Professor Bappah said the exercise was designed to ensure quality teacher education in Nigeria through the distance learning studies. The commission he said had carried out similar exercise in the South-West, South-East and South-South zones in year 2012 and 2014.
The Director General of NTI, Professor Garba Dahuwa Azare said, “NTI is particularly keen on quality assurance. Indeed quality assurance is sine qua non to the survival of the institute’s distance learning study.”
