Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau, the National President of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), has passed away. She died on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi State, after a brief illness.

Family sources in Jalingo, Taraba State, confirmed that she was in Kebbi State on an official assignment when she fell ill.

The late Lami, an indigene of Taraba State, leaves behind her husband, Alhaji Adamu Lau, as well as many children and grandchildren.

In response to her passing, the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, expressed his condolences in a message conveyed through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Digital Communication, Mr Emmanuel Bello.

Governor Kefas described the late Lami as a “golden export” from Taraba to the rest of the world and lauded her significant contributions to women’s causes, noting that her work stood tall in the history of gender activism.
