The Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Major-General Abdul Khalifa Ibrahim has urged young students to model good leadership virtues, stressing the need for them to navigate life through the help of counselling and mentorship.

The Commandant who stated this while delivering a paper titled ‘The Making of Leaders and My FGCKaduna Experience’ at the annual speech and prize-giving day organised by the Old Students Association of the Federal Government College Kaduna.

Major-General Ibrahim who recounted his academic voyage underscored the importance of education, commended the principal and the entire staff for imparting knowledge to the students.

He admonished the students to always aim for the top citing himself as a good example of what they can achieve in their lives.

The former governor of Jigawa state, Senator Ibrahim Saminu Turaki, who was the occasion’s chairman, promised that he and his associates in the class of 1980 would donate more than one thousand laptops to the school for all students next academic year.

He adopted the school’s best student Obi Dominion, offering him a full scholarship for his entire university education.

The global President’s FGCKADOSA, Mr Seyi Gambo, stressed the need for public schools alumni associations to support their alma mater and not leave everything to the government.

He commended members of FGCKADOSA, who sponsored a team of four students and two coaches to represent Nigeria in an international robotics competition in California USA in May.

The school’s principal, Prince Adewale Adeyanju expressed appreciation to the old students’ association for their relentless effort in upgrading the standards of education in the school.
