The presidential aspirant of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has disowned certain 45 million primary vote figures currently circulating on social media and various news platforms.
The figures purport to be a breakdown of official results from an imaginary party primary ascribed to Mr. Peter Obi.
A statement by the spokesperson of the Obi Media Office, Ibrahim Umar, said the figures are entirely false and fabricated, adding that the primary never took place and no figure was generated from any process.
“We urge the general public, party supporters, and members of the press to completely disregard these misleading statistics.
“Official and accurate information regarding Mr. Peter Obi’s engagements and political processes will always be communicated through our verified and authorized channels and appropriately signed.
“Those behind this fraudulent figure attribution to Peter Obi are looking for partners in their fraud, but they should look elsewhere, not to Peter Obi,” the statement read.
