Enugu, Imo, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Ondo, and Osun, stressed that employment and wealth creation are vital ingredients for robust economic growth.
He said, “In business training and enterprise creation, 65 unemployed graduates were equipped with opportunities for self-employment and identification of business opportunities,” with 15 granted credit to establish their enterprises.
Under the directorate’s Rural Agricultural DevelopmentTraining, 400 youths trained in modern agricultural practices in the area of crop production, crop processing and preservation, livestock production and management.
The DG added that 1,924 persons are currently receiving training in computer operation, catering, interior decoration, welding, auto-mech, GSM handset repairs and other trades and skills.
“Using the Transient Job Activities the directorate has engaged a total of 659 unemployed youths with 509 persons participating in the Graduate Coaching Scheme, while 20 are placed under the Graduate Attachment programme with another 130 persons participating in the Graduate Internship Programme.
The directorate, according to the Director- General, is committed to job creation for the youths and will continue to deepen its efforts towards evolving new strategies for job creation in tandem with the Nigeria’s economic requirements.
