The FCT National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has commenced training for 30 participants in the FCT on Sustainable Agriculture Development Training Scheme (SADTS).
Speaking during the flagging -off / orientation ceremony for the participants, FCT NDE coordinator, Lady Edna Ngozi Ofordile said that the programme is a paradigm shift from the usual Rural Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS) to a more sustainable Agricultural Training Approach.
“Sustainable Agriculture here refers to an agricultural production and distribution system that seeks to provide more profitable farm income, promote environmental stewardship, enhance quality of life for farm families and communities to further enhance food production for mass employment,” she said.
She said the new Sustainable Agricultural Development Scheme (SADTS) is in line with the Federal Government policy on agriculture for employment and wealth creation as it will emphasize on the use of modern technology combining agricultural research and extension services for sole cropping and animal production system in which the FCT has comparative advantages.
