The Director General of NDE, Malam Abubakar Mohamed while speaking during the flag-off of Special Intervention Employment Generation Training Programme in Owo said “the import of this is to keep the youths busy enough to arrest the plethora of negative social traits that are bedeviling the society today.
“The programme specially packaged by NDE to train 480 youths and women is therefore meant to consolidate its efforts at sustaining employment generation intervention and poverty reduction endeavours in all the nook and crannies of the country in order to remove idle hands from the street by providing them with skills, business training, appropriate counselling and orientation.”
According to him, the training of 480 unemployed was in the following areas: Training in Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-20, Income Generating Employment for women- 120, Graduate Attachment Programme-60, Training for Physically Challenged-60, Start Your Own Business (SYOB)-60 and Agricultural Skills Training- 60.
He commended the Minister for Labour and Productivity, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode for his leadership role, support and commitment to the realisation of the mission and vision of NDE, urging all the beneficiaries of the programme to develop focused and healthy attitude towards the training.
The NDE State Coordinator, Mr Joseph Olayinka informed all interested unemployed persons in state that more opportunities abound for them in the NDE.
He also enjoined all the beneficiaries to avail themselves of the rare opportunities by taking the training seriously as measures have been put in place to measure their performance, adding that those found wanting would be dropped in favour of those in the waiting.
