NDE gives loans to 38 Borno graduates, trains 100 others

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Borno State under its Rural Employment Promotion has given N100,000 loan each to 38 youths and women who were trained on Sustainable Agricultural Development Training scheme and graduates of Agricultural Science.

Speaking during the loan disbursement in Maiduguri, the Director General of NDE, Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, said the trainees acquired skills in livestock and crop production within three and half months.

Fikpo who was represented by the State Coordinator of NDE, Mairo Betara Aliyu, explained that the participants were unemployed youth comprising school leavers and graduates of tertiary institutions with passion for agriculture.

“The management of NDE has approved the loan package of N100,000 each to the participants in four different schemes of agriculture,” he noted. 

NDE said it has also commenced another round of experimental training of 100 youths and women in both livestock and crops such as poultry production, cattle fattening, sheep and goat rearing and horticulture dry season farming among others.

Aliyu on her part noted that the 100 participants from the 27 LGAs will undergo the training after which they will be issued certificates with possible resettlement from stakeholders.
