The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has intensified enforcement efforts under its special initiative, “Operation Ramadan Mubarak,” aimed at ensuring a safe, secure and drug-free environment.

Operatives carried out a series of intelligence-led raids at strategic locations across Kano, including Race Course, Dan’agundi, Filin Mahaha, the Kano Zoological Garden, Farm Center along Zaria Road, and Tashar Rami Na’ibawa.

The coordinated operations led to the arrest of 17 suspects allegedly involved in drug-related activities.

Items recovered during the raids included assorted illicit substances such as methamphetamine (commonly known as Ice), cannabis sativa, Exol-5, diazepam, and rubber solution.

The seizures were part of the Command’s sustained efforts to dismantle drug networks and curb the distribution and abuse of narcotics within the state.

In a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, ASN Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the agency said the enforcement drive was described as part of intensified nationwide operations to promote a drug-free society.

The State Commander, D.Y. Lawal, reaffirmed the agency’s resolve to safeguard communities across Kano State.

He assured residents that the operations would be sustained to ensure a peaceful and drug-free Ramadan for all.

The NDLEA also called on members of the public to remain vigilant and to support the agency with credible information that will assist in ridding society of the menace of illicit drugs.
