The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has arrested 339 suspected drug dealers and secured the conviction of 38 others in Edo in 2018.
The command also seized a total of 45,743.19 kilogrammes of various drugs, especially cannabis sativa in the period under review.
Addressing journalists in Benin, yesterday, the NDLEA Edo State Commander, Buba Wakawa, said the war on drugs must be taken seriously in order to effectively address the challenges of armed robbery, kidnapping, ritual killings and cultism in the state.
He explained that those arrested were 271 males and 68 females.
Wakawa further disclosed that 32.0975552 hectares of cannabis plantation were destroyed while 12 vehicles and three motorcycles used in trafficking drugs were impounded from drug traffickers.
