The Edo State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mitchell Ofoyeju, has disclosed that the agency arrested four suspected drug traffickers, comprising three women and one man, in Edo State.
Addressing journalists, Ofoyeju also said the agency destroyed two cannabis plantations with an estimated yield of 1,388.42 kilograms.
He identified the suspects as Eniye Osague, 25; Osaretin Erabor, 43; Vivian Chukwuma, 38; and Osigwe Omogie, 44. They were arrested during separate raids in Benin City, Oluku and Uduwuga in Uhumwonde Local Government Area.
According to him, Osague was arrested with 272 grams of “Scottish loud”, while Erabor was found with 914 grams of cannabis sativa.
He added that Chukwuma was arrested with 315 grams of cannabis, 22 grams of Colorado, 38 grams of methamphetamine and 30 grams of Tramadol 100mg.
“The fourth suspect, Osigwe Omogie, was caught with 113 grams of cannabis sativa, eight grams of loud and five grams of tramadol,” he said.
Ofoyeju further disclosed that the destroyed cannabis farms were located in Ago Forest in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state.
“The farms, measuring 0.362021 hectares and 0.229346 hectares respectively, with a total of 0.555367 hectares, were completely destroyed,” he said.
According to him, the estimated yield from the plantations was 1,388.4175 kilograms.
“No arrests were made at the scene as the cultivators were not at the plantations during the raid,” he added.
