NDLEA arrests suspected drug trafficker, seizes 457kg hemp in Edo
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Edo State have arrested a suspected drug trafficker, Ohiomah Igbafe (44), in Uroe, a community in Owan East LGA.
The state’s NDLEA Commander, Mitchell Ofoyeju, said the agency also seized skunk cannabis weighing 457kg following a raid on an illicit warehouse.
He said during the raid on the warehouse on December 9, 2025, the suspect was found in possession of 15 bags of cannabis weighing a staggering 457kg, alongside an additional sack containing 4kg of cannabis seeds.
Mitchell warned would-be traffickers that no individual or group could evade the vigilant eyes of law enforcement.
Meanwhile, the suspect said he ventured into the illegal drug business due to financial difficulties.
He said, “My involvement in drug trafficking is due to economic reasons. My father is late and my mother has eye problems. My only brother is paralysed and I am the breadwinner of the family.
“I was introduced to cannabis cultivation two years ago. I do not know how my wife and six children will survive without me. Please, I need help.”
