NDLEA arrests woman with drugs in fake pregnancy, Ivorian excretes cocaine
A Kano-based businesswoman, 35-year-old Rabi Muhammad, has been intercepted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Seme land border on Monday, February 16.
The Agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, stated that she was arrested while attempting to cross into Cotonou, Benin Republic, after officers noticed her unusually protruding abdomen.
He said a full-body search revealed a “fake pregnancy” plot, adding that her baby bump was actually a pink-colored calabash used to conceal 3,200 capsules of tramadol tied around her stomach.
In a separate operation on the same day, NDLEA operatives at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) intercepted a 41-year-old Ivorian, Michael Gohouri (also known as Anunwa Onyinye Michael).
The suspect was apprehended during the outward clearance of passengers on an Ethiopian Airlines flight destined for Milan via Addis Ababa.
Babafemi noted that a body scan confirmed Gohouri had ingested illicit substances, adding that while under observation, the suspect excreted 82 wraps of cocaine with a total weight of 1.49 kilograms.
According to the Agency, Gohouri, who holds a Nigerian National Identification Number (NIN) and an Italian residence permit set to expire in May 2026, confessed that he was promised 5,000 Euros upon the successful delivery of the drugs in Milan.
