NDLEA destroys cannabis farms in Edo

The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Edo State has destroyed illegal cannabis plantations covering 15.85 hectares.

The State NDLEA Commandant, Mitchell Ofoyeju, disclosed this to journalists, stating that “In a concerted effort against cannabis cultivation, we destroyed four illegal cannabis plantations in Ebule Forest, Owan West Local Government of Edo state, covering a total area of 15.852732 hectares,” he said.

He added, “The destroyed farms, when harvested, would have had an estimated yield of approximately 39,631.83 kg of cannabis.”

The commandant also noted that the command has started aggressive public awareness campaigns in several communities, reaching hundreds of people.

He said these programmes are crucial for educating the public on the dangers of drug abuse and promoting a healthier community.
