The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed cannabis farms worth N1.7 billion in the last two months.
The Edo State commander of the agency Buba Wakawa who disclosed this in Benin at the weekend, said such farms were a threat to peace and development.
He said the farms were destroyed in Owan East, Unhumde, Ovia North-East and Owan West, and called on the state government to declare a state of emergency to effectively tackle the situation due to the security implications as the agency could not fight the scourge without the support of other stakeholders.
