The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Command says it has discovered five cannabis farms in different locations in Kano State.
NDLEA Commander in Kano, Abubakar Idris Ahmad, stated this while briefing journalists on the activities to mark the United Nations’ International Day against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.
He explained that cannabis farms discovered in the state include a farm at Fari village in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area; another in Yar Bundu village of Bichi Local Government Area; and one in Kiru, Mantau forest Danbatta Local Government, and one at Nassarawa Gwarzo Local Government Area of the state.
The commander noted that the command was able to achieve huge successes in the area of supply reduction of illicit drugs from July 2021 to June 2022.
“A total of 12.611.656kg of illicit drugs were seized, which were made up of 9,735.004 kg of cannabis Sativa, 2,875.223kg of psychotropic substances, 1.123kg of cocaine, and 0.128 of Hereon,” Ahmad said.
