NDLEA rehabilitates 96 addicts

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it arrested 225 suspects and counseled /rehabilitated 96 addicts in 2017.
The Sokoto State NDLEA Commander, Mohammed Idris, who disclosed this while speaking on the issue, said 85 cases were taken to court.
He added that 25 were prosecuted while 60 cases were pending at the courts. Total drugs seized last year was 2,288.28 kg, the NDLEA state boss revealed.
He gave a breakdown to include 796.984kg of Cannabis -Sativa -Marijuana, and 1033.490kg of cough syrup. The rest, he said, were 457.806 kg of psychotropic substances including
Raphynol, Tramadol, EXOL 5 and D.5 Idris said the rate of drug abuse among women and girls in the state was worrisome and stressed the need for all voices to rise against it.
